#Representation in media matters. The more minorities are presented in media, the more they feel seen. For #NeurodiverityCelebrationWeek, I want to recognise #StarWars for having a character with #ADHD in 1977. R5-D4 was bought by Luke’s Uncle, but as the droid rolled to its new owners, it ground to a halt with smoke pouring from its top. Luke examines the droid, saying "This R2 unit has a bad motivator." If there's ever a description of ADHD, it's having a bad motivator! #RepresentationMatters

I'm proud to support #AmandaEdwards to be my next Congresswoman.

#TX18 has had amazing congresswomen representing us in #Washington. Women whose names are recognized both nationally, and internationally. #BarbaraJordan. #SheilaJacksonLee. Women who were /in/ the #community, and /of/ the community.

Those boots will be a challenge to fill. Amanda is up to the challenge. Whether serving in an elected position on the Houston City Council, or simply as a member of the community, If you or someone you know needs access to resources, Amanda is always an email or phone call away.

This is the kind of #representation we deserve.

When a friend of mine came off papers after a #felony conviction, and was struggling to find work, I sent an email to Amanda asking about resources. Because, although I've lived in the #Houston metro area for over thirty years, I've only lived in actual Houston for the last five. When my family was struggling, I looked to Harris County resources. Not only did Amanda reply to my ema, she gave me names and contact information for actual humans.

I'm not anyone particularly special... and that's kinda my point.
