From the article: "A researcher who was one of many to have their grants terminated by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is speaking out about how the halting of such research could have harmful effects.

"Recently, several active research grants related to studies involving LGBTQ+ issues, gender identity and diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) were canceled at the NIH. According to termination letters sent to researchers at various universities that were reviewed by ABC News, the canceled projects do not serve the "priorities" of the current administration."

From the article: "The nascent group mobilized major political organizations, such as GLSEN and Planned Parenthood, for the event, plus elected officials including Senator Ed Markey of Massachusetts, who called on the Democrats to pass the Transgender Bill of Rights, and Representative Sara Jacobs of California, who alongside Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington introduced a resolution earlier today to make the Trans Day of Visibility a nationally-recognized occasion.

“No matter what some in my party might say, we are not going to buy into the false narrative that we can either protect trans kids or win elections,” Jacobs said. “Because that is some bullshit.”

Outed youth also face a heightened risk of being subjected to conversion therapy, a discredited and harmful practice still legal in several states. AB 1955 allows students to use names, pronouns, and gender presentation that reflect their identity at school without the fear that educators will preemptively out them to their families."

According to the data, 52 percent of respondents oppose the removal of information on LGBTQ+ health disparities and nondiscrimination protections, while just 26 percent support it. The numbers reflect overwhelming resistance to the administration’s censorship effort—one that has already seen some reversals in court. In one particularly egregious case, an entire national student health dataset was taken down solely because it included questions about gender identity."

"France, Denmark, Finland, and Germany comprise a growing list of nations who have issued such warnings. For example, French authorities have said that visitors to the U.S. are "strongly recommended" to check the U.S. embassy’s website "for any changes or new measures adopted."
