Bugger!
It was our daughter's ward round this morning and we were waiting with baited breath for news of a move to a new supported living placement (this time with a truly professional outfit).
The provider was their but they don't have any vacancies - contrary to what Kasa's Social Worker said - and won't have news of vacancies for at least a fortnight.
However they are going ahead with an assessment to see if they are a match for Kasa, aso all is not lost.
Unfortunately, we're not sure that the Social Worker is aware of all the providers in the area where Kasa is, and wants to stay in - so I'm going to try a bit of homework later.

First though - more vacuuming upstairs!
Then to check if the washing on the line has dried (no chance!)

"What do I enjoy doing?
What did I enjoy doing that I haven’t done recently?
What hobbies can I engage in?
What is one thing I want to get done today?
What is one thing I want to get done this week?
What are some limiting beliefs I hold that may get in the way of me getting stuff done?"

Psych Central · 'I Feel Hopeless': Why You Feel This Way and How to Overcome ItFeeling hopeless can make you feel like there's no point in trying. There's a reason why you feel this way and a few paths to regain hope.

My mind doesn't know when to stop without uncontrollable emergency that requires my full attention, and I constantly seek the next problem (distraction) to work on.

Is this a mental issue? Does this symptom have a name?

I'm off to get the finishing touches put to my Nausicaa tattoo this afternoon.

If you have something nice planned for the weekend, have a great one and be of good cheer! Let me know your good news.

If it's shaping up to be a tricky one for you, good luck with it. Solidarity. Feel free to vent or share if that might lighten the load.

My Messiah performances were a whirlwind of excitement and exhaustion! The music was glorious, the audiences were wonderful, but the schedule was intense. After one performance, I didn’t get home until 1 am following a 3-hour drive, and the toll on my body has caught up with me. Now, I’m battling a flu-like virus and will have to miss a vital rehearsal for next week’s church choral services. It’s disappointing to miss it, but pushing through would only make things worse. Rest and recovery are the priority.

On a brighter note, I'm switching from psychology to counselling and have been offered a place at Monash, starting in January! I’ve reflected deeply on what I want for my career and how I can best support others. For me, it’s less about diagnosing or focusing on frameworks like CBT or DBT (though they have their value) and more about guiding people through their challenges, building resilience, and exploring a wide range of therapeutic approaches.

Another key factor was the timeline. Pursuing psychology involves at least five years of study before practising, which feels like too long when I can complete a counselling master’s in two years and begin working with people sooner. Counselling feels more aligned with my goals, and I’m genuinely excited about this new chapter.

Life has its way of reminding us to pause, reflect, and realign. Whether through a change of direction or even being forced to rest with a flu, these moments create space for growth. Here’s to new beginnings and finding the right path forward!
