A Kind Of Magic [Explored]
Taken at Thorpe Bay near Shoeburyness in Essex. Always love coming here at low tide to walk among the stranded boats on the mud. Where ever the setting or rising sun is you can position yourself accordingly to capture the boats from any angle. I have been so many times now i now the names of the boats from sight and Merlin is one of my favourites.

A fleeting moment captured handheld from my dining room window which faces north. It reminds me of Kanji which constitutes one of the systems to write Japanese language. I guess I should have used my macro lens but instead opted for my 100-400. I just feel more comfortable with it.

How I'm feeling versus how I want to feel.

I have been feeling pretty terrible mentally and physically lately, both due to my own situation and what is going on in the world. I fired up my Windswept Infinity generative system today, and this random seed seemed to reflect my state pretty well. It has three large red superellipsoids, arranged like the segments of a snowman. There are fine textural elements created by moving a grid of many arc segments around using trig and smooth noise to drive the position, rotation, scale, shade, etc. The form an organized chaotic field.

I used Hugin to stitch together a panorama of several aligned photos from my crappy old Olympus adventure point-and-shoot to create this portrait orientation landscape photo. It shows a verdant mountainous scene with grasses, ferns, shrubs, a peak in the distance with a faint sunbow over it, and a clear rocky stream in the foreground with some flowers overhanging it. This was while on a hiking trip with my youngest brother in the Silverpeaks in New Zealand in 2009. I was a lot healthier and happier then, though at the time I was still wearing an annoying cast that immobilized my thumb after I had broken my wrist a couple of months earlier while mountain biking. I'd gladly accept that severe discomfort for the ability to go on adventures like that again. To me this scene represents an ideally tranquil, pristine, healthy environment.

My next sunrise trip was a week later, the forecast wasn't ideal but I decided to risk an early morning at Bamburgh.

The first of the three is at the start of the blue hour, whilst the one with the dog is just before the sun was due to rise.

My favourite of these three being the dog walker shot.
