A drive through the vast emptiness of the Raton-Clayton volcanic field, Sept 2024, Colfax County, New Mexico, USA. We encountered only one other vehicle in 42 miles - a ranch pickup literally stopped in the middle of the road, straddling the center line, with its two occupants working just outside the truck. Playa Carolina is located in the seaside town of Las Terrenas, Dominican Republic.

Las Terrenas is a former fishing village turned small scale tourism hot-spot due to its postcard-perfect beaches and natural wonders.

Minus many of the large resorts that overwhelm beaches elsewhere on the island (and keep locals from visiting their own beaches).
