Like many drag queens, Heklina was an inconvenient truth-teller.

She was honest about taboos like sex, drugs and mortality in the LGBTQ community for more than four decades. San Francisco drag laureate D’Arcy Drollinger remembers Heklina, who was HIV positive, as among the few queens in the city to tell AIDS jokes in the late 1980s and early ’90s as the disease ravaged the community and reshaped its attitudes toward sex.

Last night, I went to my first #drag show in years. The venue could have been planned a little better, but the turnout was AMAZING for a rural community. Standing on a bench for an hour and a half was well worth it—an evening of proud and loud #QueerJoy.

Seeing the Queen's parents on Drag Race was so good. But Onya's father and Lexi's mother really moved me... Drag Race has its problems but there are these special, heartfelt moments that are so unique to the show, but very common to us queer people.

So happy to be able to see my current favourite human to grace any Drag Race franchise, Jaylene Tyme (CDR season 5), at a Metis Two-Spirit LGBTQQIA+ drag show fundraiser performance.
