I did something amazing today.
I rode a #bike.
I know, billions of people ride a bike every day. I used to, too. But about 25 years ago, I slipped a disc and was told to stop.
Since then, I've been diagnosed with #ataxia, which affects my balance and co-ordination Those are both pretty indispensable when riding a bike.
So I thought my cycling days were over, much like my mountaineering, football and running days.
Wonder why there are no cars in Sequoia, the #solarpunk city in "A New Faith"?

@t54r4n1 I like these bikes on a "yay more bikes" level but they frustrate me for two reasons.
1. People ride them unsafely, no helmets, and leave them in the middle of the sidewalk, causing problems for anyone with any kind of special mobility needs(wheelchair, stroller, etcl
2. They remind me that we used to have a much more equitable bikeshare, Nice Ride, and it bums me out that we don't have it anymore.

Last Sunday I visited my father by #bike . On the way, I rode past the 3 lined up windmills at the Rottemeren, the Netherlands. One of them is under repair and you can see inside the top part. Going back home it was already after dark, and that resulted in a nice night time photo. #cycling #windmill #Rottemeren .

I guess it doesn't come as a big surprise. (But it's important to quantify, don't get me wrong!)
Could you reach an evaluation of the weekly distance travelled with/without #telework, given that frequency decreases but distance increases? And will the increased distance+reduced frequency also lead to changing #transportation mode? (ideally #car → #rail, but could be #bike → #car too…)
