The For Profit prison system has contracts with the US government worth 100's of millions, they are currently doubling bed capacity as we speak. They were major contributors to the Trump campaign, as always, it's greed.

@RickiTarr I have long argued (decades now) that private, for-profit prisons are unconstitutional and immoral.
A polity that asserts the authority of incarceration must also bear the onus, directly, at public cost. All incarceration must be public, and directly answerable to the public. Anything else is an invitation to exactly what we're seeing right now.
