So I gave #RNote a try. It looks promising, especially on a #GNOME desktop. But it's nowhere near as feature-rich as #XournalPlusPlus. Of course, RNote is still in its early stages, so that's not surprising. I'll stick with Xournal++ for the time being, but I'll keep an eye on RNote.
Will give this a try!
”Xournal++ is perhaps the best-known and most widely used hand-written note-taking app for Linux but Rnote shouldn’t be overlooked. For GNOME desktop fans especially, it has a great UX, a solid feature set and first-rate stylus support.“
Also, there is a Debian-powered Pine Note with an E-Ink screen? Have to check that one out, too.

Only because I couldn't find one that worked the way I wanted it to, I wrote Yet Another Note Making App. Entirely CLI. It may work for you too.

#win and #linux only for now (all I can test); would love feedback even if that feedback is "Don't quit your dayjob, your code is terrible." #dqydj

Whilst I thank for the numerous good work you've done - is there any plan to implement a keyboard shortcut to switch between markdown editor and rich text editor? (Not the ctrl L to switch between preview and you panels)
Any discussion I've found, old or new, are simply "you are out of luck".
There are many cases where a document works better in a specific editor mode.
From @jtr's lovely post:
"Journalley blows this mental challenge away. It invites me to take notes and just notes. It’s the opposite of a chore. “Go ahead,” it winks at me, “spill the beans. Snap some pictures. We’ll work on the details later.” Suddenly, I’m free to let my mind go."
The different kinds of notes by Baldur Bjarnason [Shared]
The post where I outline my general theory of notetaking for all to disagree with
At the end of my last post, I mentioned that I had switched to pen and paper notetaking in the early 2010s, after years of serious digital notetaking using plain text files.
I wrote about how much more enjoyable the analogue notetaking was but what I didn’t mention was why I abandoned my plain text system. Nor did I write about my first foray into serious notetaking.

Can you make too many notes? This guy did. #zettelkasten #notetaking #pkm https://writingslowly.com/2025/03/24/lord-acton-took-too-many.html
Zettelkasten on the CLI
Let's take a look at my Zettelkasten notetaking workflow on the Linux Command Line. Trust me, it's simple.

Anyone use the #Zettelkasten method of note-taking and knowledge management? Stumbled across it and I'm quite curious about it. I read widely across a lot of topics. No longer in grad school but having a way to organize and cross-reference is really appealing.
