Windows 10 may very well be the last Windows OS that I ever run on any computer I own. I have never used Windows 11 and have been holding off upgrading as long as possible due to concerns like this.

I even have a Microsoft account, but it's the principle of the thing. Who actually owns the technology I use?

I have been tinkering with Linux off and on for nearly 20 years, with some long stints using various distros as my daily driver.

If Microsoft is going to be this way, so be it. I can get along just fine without them.

Sehr spaßig: Da findet man ein #AppImage des #BambuStudio welches unter #openSUSE auch läuft und stellt dann fest, dass es unter den einzurichtenden Druckern in der Auswahl keinen einzigen BambuLab-Drucker gibt.

I really think Linux Foundation or a collaboration between distros and DEs should create some website and materials to try and capture the attention of people who don't like Win 11 or just don't want to throw away a perfectly fine PC and buy a new one – and try and help them migrate to Linux

Rising tide lifts all boats, the competition between players should be set aside for the goal of helping as many as possible get to Linux now with EOL for Win10. A unique opportunity!

1. klikkaa ohjelma aktiiviseksi
2. pidä hiirtä aktiivisen ohjelman päällä, niin saat "esikatseluikkunan" näkyviin
3. siirrä hiiri esikatseluikkunaan
4. klikkaa oikealla hiiren näppäimellä
5. valitse "siirrä"
6. siirrä ikkuna nuolinäppäimillä takaisin näkyviin.

Kyllä, toivoisin, että näin ei tarvitsisi tehdä ja, että se ei olisi niin vaikeaa.

What #antivirus should I get for my son’s #Win11 computer?

I just installed Windows 10 Home on a device. I never realized how crappy #Windows has become in my opinion.

My first mistake was connecting it to the internet in the setup wizard, as it then tried to force me to create and sign into a #Microsoft account. I then researched this, but none of the #Win11 tricks worked on #Win10.

I managed to disconnect from the WLAN again by opening the command line (Shift + F10) and typing "netsh wlan disconnect". Afterwards I could create an offline account.

On a positive note, I finally completed my #Jellyfin server installation and configuration. (This to replace my 12-year-old #Kodi installation.)

It's nice having a single "authority" for my videos without having to go off-lan. (koff, #plex)

Even more amazing is that the service is running off a $300 #Win11 #nuc I use for streaming.
