A home to friendly weirdos. The Grey Gardens of the Fediverse (but beige). Occasionally graphically cacographic. Definitely probably not a cult (though you'll never be 100% sure). Beige-bless 🙏

So, I know there's a lot of sexism and other problematic stuff in #BigBangTheory and #YoungSheldon, but I do enjoy watching those shows -- since I can really identify with #SheldonCooper. However, I'm also digging #HighPotential for similar reasons. Does anyone else in the @actuallyautistic enjoy these shows? Or am I in the minority?

Liked big bang, couldn't get on with young Sheldon. High potential, I'm still not sure about, but then I've only watched the first three episodes. Far prefer Astrid.

@pathfinder They blew the opportunity. As with 3rd Rock, it was all about the laughs. @DoomsdaysCW @actuallyautistic

So, true story, part of the way I tried to break the ice with people making fun of me was with humor. Some of it self-deprecating. But, I can still laugh at myself sometimes -- especially when I see some of my more extreme traits on a comedy. Maybe I'm weird that way. I also adore "Napoleon Dynamite" too. @Tooden @pathfinder @actuallyautistic

I think many of us learnt to use our humour as a masking technique. Of course, it doesn't hurt that contrary to the misconceptions, we tend to have a really good sense of humour, even if it may be a bit black and bleak.

Oh geesh, you've got that right. My humor is pretty dark. I remember joking with my uncle on his deathbed a couple of years ago about how he didn't have to worry about mowing his lawn anymore. He laughed. Everyone else was pussyfooting around the fact that he was going to die. Not "Doomsday" over here. @pathfinder @Tooden @actuallyautistic

We can't help but see things as they are. Dark humour is kind of natural to us. And, I've come out with far worse.
