We played some Super Metroid today and got the achievement for completing the game within three hours. Then we got a handful of achievements in the Game Boy Advance version of Doom. It has a better framerate than the SNES port and the shotgun has proper pellets instead of behaving like a sniper rifle. Sadly, episodes two and three had major overhauls to many levels, so the game feels completely foreign. With the awful graphics resolution, learning new levels is difficult.
At least we got a bunch of achievements today.
We are now in the Top 10,000! YAY!

Our next goal will be to get into the Top 10%. We are super excited at the prospect!
Well done! You're making amazing progress
As for Doom on GBA, it uses the same level set as the Atari Jaguar version which was the framework for most other console ports, and yeah, some of the tweaks to the levels to get those ports to work take a little getting used to.
Not having to pistol start a new chapter makes the later episodes much easier. Carrying all those rockets and bullets from Episode 1 to 2, etc, makes the start of Epsiode 2 (and 3) less tight in ammo on UV difficulty.
All things considered, it is still one of my favourite versions of the game. Maybe that is my nostalgia speaking.
@ishambard
We did rather enjoy being able to keep weapons between episodes. It really changed the dynamic and strategy.
