Go back to any old social media profiles that you don’t use anymore and delete those accounts.
Delete/erase old email accounts/inboxes that are defunct.
Strip any information about your family or where you live from blogs or company websites.
Use a service like Delete Me or Aura to systematically go through the internet and remove personally identifiable information.
@SnowshadowII I'd love to delete my old Twitter account, but you have to log in to do that. I tried to delete it a year or two back and it wouldn't let me complete a log in unless I first provided them with additional personal verification information, like my phone number etc.
I don't want to give Elon any personal info.

@SnowshadowII I created my account many many many many years ago, back when Twitter was basically still a new thing. It's pretty much an anonymous account tied to nothing more than a fake email address. I was shocked the account still existed and my password still worked.
@zazzoo I wonder if it was usurped by a bot.

Back in the day I spent a couple hours poking around on it, didn't see the point of it and never returned. Again, this was well before it became so toxic.
The only part of it that burns me is that I'm sure abandoned accounts like mine probably contribute to their user counts when they're looking for advertising sponsors.
yeah, that's why I deleted mine before I left when there were rumblings of Musk buying it. I guess I am too much of a woorrier...
or not.
I didn't like the idea he might profit from my account, though unused.
