This is literally what Republicans are doing to women in red states.

@talia_christine I have attempted this analogy from the beginning of this nightmare! Americans have been treated like and behave like chronically abused children. The failure to remove the abuser during impeachment was like the children being returned to abuser...now the abuse becomes internalized and normalized. Result... Alliance among some, cowering obedience among some, defiance, among others and uncompromising rejection by us. These numbers are astonishing.

The soft peddling, and forever coddling of that known abuser was the media aiding and abetting a known mobster while using HRC's emails like a crack pipe... chumming the ratings water... When Maddow demonstrated that truth could generate ratings too! It was too late.

He was in a different genre (just barely), but I've always felt that if #JonStewart had stayed at the Daily Show for a couple more years, trump wouldn't have been neeearly as successful (no disrespect to Trevor Noah and the great job he did on that show).

@talia_christine During Trump's first year I took to calling him "our national abuser." People didn't get it. But I had been married to an abuser and it was clear as day. Now it's the entire party, all sadistic abusers. You have to be aggressive with abusers, that's all they understand. You have to make them fear consequences. The media should be filling a significant role in this on the nation's behalf but it has been failing at this for years.

@talia_christine I can almost hear their thought process: "If you did that to a woman, it would be abuse!" "... Wait. Did you say *A* woman? Is there a way to do it to MANY women? Or even ALL women?" 
@talia_christine This is spot on! And all this because they think this is the best bet to get their base to vote for them. Instead of educating the base, just pander to them.
The abusive partner. The toxic boss. The playground bully. The dictator. They're all the same thing. They operate out of the same playbook.
