Thanks for the feedback and solid take on how to help narrow down an instance. I think the list or two I started scrutinizing when I first joined, which broke down some ideas of what were and weren't acceptable, aren't even online any more.
Would you know of any decent lists that offer that kind of synopsis?
I came across one recently when I was migrating away from mastodon.social, but it was pretty short and not super helpful.

As to your other point:

My experience I summarized -- a bit quippy and off-handedly, In retrospect -- was very much that when I was starting off: I don't recall seeing much (any?) straight porn when I saw it on the global feed, but saw a fair bit of gay (more to the point, M/M) porn.

My synopsis of what I was seeing (Tamil, dad joke, etc.) was hugely truncated for expediency in the post but was genuinely not far off what the mix of what the global feed consisted of.

To your question, I think porn is entirely acceptable for those who are seeking it out (and assuming all parties involved are of age and consenting).

I was trying to say, albeit poorly, that porn of any stripe isn't something I want my teen to have to sift through to find accounts of interest to follow. Gay porn just happened to be the kind I encountered, hence my mentioning it as I did.
