People were disappearing.

He would see a woman make a joke, and “riff” on it by telling it back to her. And then never see her or her posts again.

He would offer a helpful correction to a stranger. Then the stranger vanished.

It seemed everyone this guy replied to was just suddenly gone. Like they had been . . . blocked.

He was so close to figuring it out.
