Diary of an ASD Squirrel. Day 438 , Wednesday 08/01/2025
Snow day 4, we are down to eggs of unknown origin, maybe dinosaur eggs, maybe…
Clean out of lemon soaked napkins, & I swear I saw a penguin earlier! (Maybe the eggs were penguin eggs?)
There is a lone seagull that keeps hovering over our house like a vulture, I’m sure he’s waiting for me venture out & then snaffle me to feed his 16 hungry chicks!
Sophie & Alice heard about the sleigh pulling plan,they were not amused, I’m still looking for what’s left of the sleigh!
It’s possible that cabin(et) fever has now got a through hold of me! (Cue maniacal laugh!)
16:39 we have an energy saving session this evening between 5 & 6pm so I am turning off all that can be turned off!
18:05 Yay we spent the last hour in candle light reading our ebooks & generally using as little electric as possible!
Final Thoughts.
All this daftness is to camouflage the fact I’ve felt bläh all day & needed some light relief!
Looks like we might get a thaw on Monday … so the snow adventure could last another 4 days
Thank you to all those who are helping me on this journey, in a myriad different ways. I am thankful to each & every one of you!

@Tim_McTuffty @actuallyautistic yikes you are really snowed in. And there I felt sorry for myself because the schools closed over snow and ice and my joints hurt from the cold, but I still can go to shops and have electricity etc.
You will do a big pantry and freezer clear out that's for sure. If you put your random ingredients into search engine (google/ duckduckgo etc.)it will give you recipes which is cool.
@niamhgarvey @actuallyautistic Niamh I have a tiny admission to make… there may have been a little artistic license in the last few entries, as much to amuse myself as my Peeps.
We have food in & if push comes to shove we could get out, the is still some decent snow about but I noticed this morning that a lot of our neighbours have managed to get off the Close.
We live right at the end of the close & in the past there would be a concerted effort by neighbourhood to clear the road, sadly there are only ourselves & one other family from those days that remain, the new, younger, neighbours all stayed in when I was out digging out our drive the other day.
My hands & feet get ever so cold this time of year, & this year they have started to get exceptionally painful after long exposure, age catching up with me I guess! This, mixed with my agoraphobia, makes going out of the house a trial at the best of times.
I kind of wanted to say all this without it sounding like I was whining hence the the story line.
Thanks so much for caring, I do appreciate it & it sounds like you have it at least as bad as us!
The electricity thing was a saving session initiated by our utilities company - Octopus - we will earn a little extra off our bill hopefully (over and above the actual drop in usage).
I hope you have a good day today & keep warn & snug!
@Tim_McTuffty @actuallyautistic thank goodness you are ok ! Xx
@niamhgarvey @actuallyautistic All good thanks Niamh, I should have remembered that a lot of my Peeps share my literal take on the world & been less subtle in my attempts at humour
I hope you & yours are all good over there
@Tim_McTuffty @actuallyautistic lots of snow and ice finally melting here today. Any thaw in your neck of the woods?
@niamhgarvey @actuallyautistic Evening Niamh
The snow is starting to retreat, but more by evaporation than actual melting I think. I can see the roof of the car now!
Hope you had a good day
@Tim_McTuffty @actuallyautistic onwards and upwards!
@Tim_McTuffty @actuallyautistic sounds like an eventful day! And that's loads of snow then! Glad we don't have that much, I would definitely get cabin fever, even though I'd need to go out with Arwen...
Yay for ebooks! The ones with the back light are just so easy to use in the darker moments, and they're calm on the eyes as well.
Hope you'll have a good night sweets CYWYUA MLS
@Tim_McTuffty @actuallyautistic
The weather gods have a bit to answer for. Hope the dinosaur eggs are tasty.
@Susan60 @actuallyautistic G’day Susan
They were, in truth, extra large (free range) hens eggs - but birds are what dinosaurs evolved into so no harm no fowl!
They were very tasty btw thanks.
It’s a beautiful, very cold at -2ºC, day here so there will not be any great outdoor adventuring, if any!
Hope you have a great day!
@Tim_McTuffty @actuallyautistic
Brrr! Got to 32.5C today, currently 24 at 10.30, but will hit down to 19 which is okay. Stay warm!
@Susan60 @actuallyautistic Toasty! I dream of 19 (ºc, lets be clear here )
@Tim_McTuffty @actuallyautistic
I burst out laughing, "Snow day 4, we are down to eggs of unknown origin, maybe dinosaur eggs, maybe…"
Sorry you're snowed in. Have you a shovel?
And wear the headphones.. music helps.
@Rasta @actuallyautistic Morning Rasta
See I knew someone would get my somewhat off track humour
TBH today it’s far more a voluntary thing than anything else, you know I don’t like venturing out & about at the best of times & the threat of going tit over tail on a snowy, icy road is not helping.
We have a shovel & indeed the drive & the road immediately in front of our house is clear & gritted.
Headphones are definitely helping!
Hope you have a good day today Mon Frére
@Tim_McTuffty @actuallyautistic
I was still awake from a recent pee break, when I heard a cat gagging, Jasper, somewhere in the living room, and I went out to find it and clean up if required. Just a hairball or tinsel he found from the tree. Put on coffee and looked out while waiting to see the regular neighbour returning with his dog, at 3:30am and behind him a non-neighbour woman walking her dog. I double checked the time. This is why I can't have a dog. I'm not doing that.
@Rasta @actuallyautistic I think that most dog owners I know would not be out at that time to be fair!
I sleep too deeply to hear our two varmints throwing up overnight thankfully!
