A home to friendly weirdos. The Grey Gardens of the Fediverse (but beige). Occasionally graphically cacographic. Definitely probably not a cult (though you'll never be 100% sure). Beige-bless 🙏

The biggest phase shift will be when people no longer see the US as the all powerful Superpower (looking at you Tankies), but just an annoying and belligerent dick way past it's heyday and falling apart....just like Russia.

Europe can do without the US, Asia can do without the US, it's not a superpower any more, it's a divorced male living in a racing car bed. There's a whole other world aside from the US, let's move on.

If the CIA were as all powerful and all knowing as some make them out to be, would they have let America become.....this?

Looking at America today it's frankly absurd that Stargate imagined that nation capable of running a secret Space Force across the Galaxies when right now they're burning Science books and going full "Parable of the Sower"

We've been sold a lie, the US army will not come sweeping in and destroy the monster, there are not secret labs filled with wonderous technology...

@Lazarou It was all smoke and mirrors, aided immeasurably by Hollywood creating myths. Turns out Russia's supposed military might was a myth too. If you believed the stories crack teams of government assassins would have seen off the jokers threatening to take over America before they'd even got close. Every film portraying the US president as smart and wise: make believe. Mission Impossible: pretend. Jack Ryan: pretend. Name your hero: pretend. All bumbling amateurs.

Zelenksy saying "we can't do this without America" but maybe we can, and by we I mean Europe.

We are living in a post Superpower age now and how much of that prior age was just smoke and mirrors?

We may have automated lying but the Truth is harder to hide than ever, if you want to look for it.

I'm somewhat surprised how Europe's combined military might cannot beat Russia? Even in terms of bodies to throw at the problem, Russia has quite a small population relative to the rest of Europe

@Shivviness @christineburns

I note that if we dont do anything the Baltics and Scandinavians will anyway, so why all the waiting?

I suspect Russia has its talons in many governments, weak people blackmailed into doing Russias bidding and thr traitor-bigots who like Russia's fascism

Uninformed speculation:

In a head-to-head conventional conflict, Europe could, probably quite easily. But Putin knows that, and Europe don’t want to ever put Putin in a position where feels like nuclear weapons are his only option, and Putin knows that Europe feels that way.
