Hmmm
I was wondering... I know there is an account that follows instances to check for Alt texts in the user's toots on them.
These days, I use altbot a lot, as my hands are sore, and my brain a bit fuzzy at times, so the bot helps me to add a good text.
But, I first share my Toot without Alt text, and then I edit the Toot to add alt texts.
Does that site that checks for Alt texts takes these edits in account? As the Toot eventually has the Alt texts, just not when whey are shared the first time...
I don't know how that account works, so I was just wondering if it scans all the toots at a certain moment in time to see if they have Alt texts... Or of it checks the toots when they are shared, so when they don't have the text yet?
Anyone who knows this? Thanks in advance!
@PixysJourney I am unsure of that but just in case the bot doesn't work for you, instance issues, anything, use #Alt4Me
@WeirdWriter
Thanks. Usually the bot does a decent job, I need to edit bits at times, but it's still better than what I could have come up with...
@PixysJourney When I do this I use the delete and re-draft option. The post is deleted but all the content is right there. I do this to add pictures all the time from my phone and then add the alt-text from my computer.
@RegGuy
Ah ok, I've never tried that option... But maybe it's not necessary, if the tracker sees that the post does have Alt text after the edits... I use my phone for most of the time, so it would be a bit much to get the laptop out for just some alt text, as in the end, my post gets edited with the text.
I was just wondering how that tracker account worked with the scanning of the toots with images.
@PixysJourney I rarely use my phone, so the process of popping an image to a post and then doing it right on my computer is just logical and easier for me. Not an inconvenience.
@PixysJourney Are you talking about a personal account or an entire instance?
The one I have lets me know as soon as I post to remind me to add alt text. I don't expect it to keep track of if I listen to it. (It's been so long, I can't remember its name.)
@PixysJourney Is @AltTextHealthCheck the one you're thinking of? I dont know the answer, but @stefan probably does
