I miss gnawing leftover chicken bones & sucking out the marrow, with my patriarch Grandpa. I'm making some soup stock with chicken bones & remembered all the times that me & Gramps sat by ourselves at a table away from rest of our family to eat chicken bone marrow & laughing over family stories shared.
Gramps also used to break open thick pork & beef bones with a hammer & then we would sit together, enjoying the marrows & drinking tea.
Grandma would collect all the bones & dry them out in sun. She broke them up with a heavy mallet & fed her food gardens with it. I do that to this day because my Grandparents taught me to waste nothing.
@PhoenixSerenity Opening up any bones to add the marrow to stews is definitely worth it.
So few people seem to know, and they just throw them out.
It's sad.

And browning the bones first in the oven before making stock.
