beige.party is one of the many independent Mastodon servers you can use to participate in the fediverse.
A home to friendly weirdos. The Grey Gardens of the Fediverse (but beige). Occasionally graphically cacographic. Definitely probably not a cult (though you'll never be 100% sure). Beige-bless 🙏

For the love of Xena, tell me something good going on in the world!

@LoganFive Logan. There are tree frogs out there. Just a buncha cuties with big sticky toes just hanging out. How good is that?

@mycrowgirl I like it. They are cute. What else you got?

@LoganFive but also, hard pass on the Zeus lovin’ for me. 😝

@mycrowgirl Yeah, he was a big creep. I should choose another immortal. For the love of Athena?

@LoganFive

I see and hear of uncountable small and not-so-small kindnesses every day. 🫂

@LoganFive

This morning, in the supermarket parking lot. Elder woman with 1/2 gallon of milk visible through a store-branded plastic bag is walking with great effort towards the entrance. A college guy on his way to his car with a small bag says something to the woman who stops, smiles and hands him the bag. He offers his arm and walks her into the store at her pace and dirty-looks a driver who tries to scoot past in front of them. Was she returning bad milk? A small kindness.

@TheEddieShow There is nothing more heartwarming than bad milk. :) No seriously, that was sweet. Thank you.

@LoganFive

Want another one? Gimme a minute.

@LoganFive

You're most welcome. I'm desperate to find the positive in a day these days, and I've found, if I pay close attention, I'll see something, every. day.

@LoganFive Ludwig is finally streaming on Britbox! And I love David Mitchell and detective shows and puzzles, so it's like it was made specifically for me.

@kinsale42 Oh I just watched a trailer! It looks good!

@LoganFive I watched the first episode tonight and it was good. I am so excited!

@kinsale42 I don’t have BritBox though. Is it free?

@LoganFive sadly no (but since most of my favorite shows are UK-based, I have it and Acorn instead of Netflix and Prime)

Something good going on in the world...

I planted five Japanese red maple seeds this morning. We'll see if I can keep them watered.

Doctor's Office. Waiting for a blood draw, in a chair against a wall with several others. Across the hall, in a small office, I saw a familiar face. Nikkie caught me looking and said, "Hey, Mr. ______" like we saw each other yesterday. In fact, it was at least 2023, my last visit to this office. She motioned for me to come visit, so I did, happily. A chair in front of her desk, adorned with knick-knacks in a rose gold motif. I remembered her Dad had been sick and asked about him. Gone last year, but thanks for remembering. She pointed to him on her wall of taped-up family photos. I remembered they lived in Philly until she was a teenager and we talked a little about him and Philly. He worked for the City for 45 years.

Nikkie's phone rang and she held up a "just a minute" finger. I noticed a succulent in a cute cube on her desk and photographed it.

When I showed her, Nikkie smiled and asked if I could text her a copy. I did. And a moment later, my name was called.

Five minutes that made us both feel a human connection.

@LoganFive I just got back from an incredible live show of the Ukrainian/Canadian band Lemon Bucket Orkestra: joyful, frantic, communal, exstatic, shared vibrancy. youtube.com/watch?v=ONIZGeIevj8

@LoganFive

I got a new feather quilt today and I aint getting out of bed!

@LoganFive A guy driving a truck while talking on his phone dangerously cut me off yesterday, but pulled over to apologize & acknowledge his recklessness. The humility was very unexpected & seemed very genuine.

@LoganFive I found out that I have a blood type that lets anyone receive blood from me so I'm donating as often as I'm allowed. It ain't much but I feel like it's making the world a tiny bit better. And I get free apple juice :)

@LoganFive

Got to spend some time with my cousin's kids yesterday.

It's wild to hang out with mid-twenties kids that you spent time with when they were growing up.

They still don't look like adults to me. More like aged children. It's honestly kind of weird. My brain doesn't know what to do with it. XD

Also, growing closer to my new cat. She's a lot more skittish creature than my previous #FloofChild. I took the collar off her (she's indoor-only) this week so that I wouldn't know where she is. I just let her come to me so she doesn't get spooked at this not-quite-1.8m-tall mostly-hairless ape coming at her with sounds vaguely similar to meows. XD

@LoganFive
I will tell you one good thing going on per day, but you'll have to subscribe. There IS a free version, but it is ad supported.

@LoganFive My mum will turn 80 tomorrow, and was proudly shopping by herself for some snacks this morning. A shop owner overheard her talking about it, gave her some complimentary items and wished her “happy birthday” 🎉

Climate Change will kill most Humans. I guess thats good, cos Humans are assholes, right?

@LoganFive I saw two pretty, hip girls in monochromatic outfits walking down Melrose, and I thought they must be cool chicks. But then one of those delivery robots started crossing the street and one of the girls shrieked, "Eric, is that you? Give me a minute! Eric always gives me trouble!" She and her friend started laughing like total goofballs and walking all hunched over and hopping like cryptids. It's nice to know that young women can still feel their youth and energy and let it out like opening a dam.
