𝐿𝒶𝓃𝒶 "not yet begun to fight"

You know, for supposedly not being Nazis, MAGA Nazis seem to sure keep doing a lot of Nazi salutes.

I give it a week tops before Donald Trump, as President of the United States flashes a seig heil.

I am 47 years old. I have seen more Nazi salutes in the last 30 days than I have ever seen before in my entire lifetime. This isn't an accident. It isn't mental illness. And it sure as shit isn't funny. This is intentional. When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.

MAGA is explicitly a Nazi movement.

@Lana
Now which one is correct? Left or right arm?
And does the wrong one Count?
[Confused German]

@godot the correct way to do a Nazi salute is not to fucking do a Nazi salute.

@godot also, TikTok videos are frequently flipped and mirrored the other way. So I'm pretty sure Laura Smith here is using the same arm as Elon and Bannon.

@Lana Ok, right arm - or none at all.

@nobrainnopain @godot @Lana There are several variations of Nazi salute - depending on conditions like audience, rank, etc. So it's not just one way to do it - Hitler himself saluted in couple ways.

@Lana as someone once said... "you know what we call an ironic Nazi?" “A Nazi”

They're Nazis without the Hugo Boss outfits.

@Lana @petrillic I feel like someone should mention the German aphorism about what you have if a Nazi sits down at a table with nine other people.

What you have there, is ten Nazis.

@petrillic @Lana As someone put it, even if you're only fucking goats ironically, you're still a goat fucker.

@Lana They will claim to be offended by you calling them what they are, while secretly enjoying it.

They will use it to claim you are being hysterical and overreacting, fooling people who can't seem to recognize danger when it's in front of them.

They have no shame, no soul, no empathy. And they think they've won, which is why they aren't at all afraid to show their true colors now.

@realtegan ask me if I give one flying shitfuck whether a Nazi is mad at me. 🙃

@Lana
Same. The feelings of a Nazi are irrelevant.

My only worry is how confident they are about flaunting it. I know they're all pretty stupid - you have to be stupid in many respects to be a Nazi in the first place - but the confidence is worrying. I do hope their wake up call is nasty.

@realtegan @Lana
I'm afraid to say that their wake up call HAS to come from all other americans who don't subscribe to the nazi ideology.
This all not exclusively politics any longer.
Please consider at least that THEY have already prepped up for their version of civil war.
At my estimation there are somewhat of 10-20% of american nazis who are actually ready to start killing the others who don't bend the knee.
It hurts to write this.
But I fear more straight talk is needed. (Not to you, obviously!)

@realtegan @Lana The first two are "dog whistle" or "plausibly deniable" salutes. Out to the side rather than straight up in front. So he can say he was waving or whatever.

@mike805 @realtegan I deny the existence of a "dogwhistle Nazi salute". If there is any, single, one action a person could do to show they're a Nazi, that action is a Nazi salute. You don't do it by accident. The people who are telling you you can, are Nazis. They're gaslighting you.

"@mike805 @realtegan Niego la existencia de un "saludo nazi con silbidos para perros". Si hay una sola acción que una persona podría hacer para demostrar que es nazi, esa acción es el saludo nazi. No lo haces por accidente. Las personas que te dicen que puedes hacerlo son nazis. Te están engañando."

@Lana @mike805 @realtegan

@Lana @mike805

Yup, this.

They'll make "excuses" about it, claiming all sorts of things. But when you get right down to it, it's a Nazi salute now and by using it they are proudly declaring themselves to be Nazis.

Lana is completely right (as she often is).

@Lana @mike805 @realtegan I am afraid to write this but I think there is a BUT the goats are not the issue in this story, you see them, you mark them… the danger comes from those who studied at Harvard, Yale and other elite intern. Universities with higher education, beeing eloquent, Who sound honest and appear to have integrity AND come along with a lot of money and network Those are the leader of the goats. In reality they don‘t fucking care.

@caretaker @Lana @realtegan Those universities are part of the hereditary power complex of the USA, yes. That is why they have historically done "legacy" admissions.

Those sorts of power structures are as old as civilization. Someone with natural leadership talent led an army, conquered some land, and became king. Then he put his kids in charge of running his kingdom, and pretty soon you had a hereditary nobility.

The universities perform that role in the USA.

@mike805 @Lana @realtegan yes but its pretty the same here in Europe. They know how to obfuscate themselves and pretend to be the good ones and when people see there real intention …

@Lana and it needs to be combatted as such!

  • Every allied WW2 veteran will attest to that to their dying breath!

@Lana My grandfathers (one who died) and father who fought in the war against the Nazis are turning over in their grave along with the millions of innocents who were murdered by fascists. What happened to never again?

@SamanthaJaneSmith @Lana Fascists use populism to persuade ordinary people they’re on their side. They also turn ordinary working folks against each other making Jews and gay people enemies of the people or persuading the prejudiced that immigrants or women have stolen their jobs.

@Lana I think the problem is that most people assume that when you use terms like Nazi or racist, it's an empty insult like calling someone an idiot. People also tend to assume that the terms are always an exaggeration, because nobody could ever be as bad as the "worst person ever".

So it makes it impossible to call out these behaviours. Unfortunately, my experience has been that people need to get hurt first to take a threat seriously. It's why people didn't act until after the holocaust.

@thomasembree the reason you think "Nazi" is a petty insult is that's what the Nazis say about it. Protip: don't fucking listen to Nazis.

@Lana I don't think that, I'm just saying what most people (Americans especially) think when they hear it. What I think is that this is a result of poor education, and a gradual loss of living memory regarding the holocaust.

People are beginning to forget, and Donald Trump is the consequence of that.

@thomasembree "people are forgetting the Nazis" is not how you get more Nazis. You get more Nazis because the Nazis recruited more Nazis.

@Lana Underestimating the threat posed by Naziism is what results in more Nazis. These people either do not know what happened during the holocaust, or they don't understand the correlation between what they are doing and the horrors of genocide.

Forgetting means people can romanticize the Nazis, because they become something fictional or hypothetical. 20% of young Americans think the holocaust was a myth.

That is 1 in 5 of all young people in the US. They don't know what they're supporting.

@thomasembree that's where we disagree. I think they know exactly what they're supporting.

@Lana I don't think any but a very, very small minority of people who actually knows what it is like would actually support it. That is why it became so anathema once images of genocide became widespread and firsthand accounts from victims became widely accessible thanks to modern media technologies.

It's just something their grandparents and their parents told them about, stripped of all the ugliness to make it seem appealing. It's their only frame of reference.

@Lana You only need to observe how German society responded to the revelation of what their government did, and how long it has taken for that evil to regain any footing in their country.

It's taken this long because it had to fade from living memory.

@thomasembree @Lana they don’t forget. Their ignorance comes from ACTIVELY ignoring the suffering and choosing to not understand and care for people who are not exactly like themselves. They choose ignorance by ignoring. They want to be spoon fed their opinions.

@thomasembree @Lana Well but they hadn't seen it before, whereas we have.

@Lana @thomasembree Nowadays, 'racism' is being used not just to point out discrimination based on race but also on things like wealth and religion (even by scientists 🥴). The word is even used to describe situations without discrimination at all, mainly by people who aim to hold on to some false sort of victimhood.
Luckily so far, the ones calling out fascists for what they are have been spot on. It is clear to most of us that evil people are not just a thing of the past.

@elfburgerman Fuck out of here with that horseshit.

thomasembree@me.dm

@Lana 43 here, can confirm. The world has gone to hell in a handbasket. I'm extremely familiar with WWII and how it started, and this is Déjà vu

@Lana
They'll keep this shit up until they realise they're in a room with each other. At which point it's too late for them.
@nazokiyoubinbou

@Lana

I'll be 68 this year & I can say the same. All my life, they were synonymous with evil. I can't believe I get to spend my "golden years" fighting this shit again that should have been stamped out for good before I was born. 🤬

Tut was ....JETZT, SONST IST ES ZU SPÄT

Eure beiden Oberfaschisten machen uns hier in Europa "etwas" unruhig

@Lana Those guys never say it wasn't a Nazi salute, only that we are all deranged for thinking it might have been.
