A home to friendly weirdos. The Grey Gardens of the Fediverse (but beige). Occasionally graphically cacographic. Definitely probably not a cult (though you'll never be 100% sure). Beige-bless 🙏

From anti-#lookism "I am beautiful no matter what they say" pop star idol to poster girl for "#UndetectableEra" plastic surgery.

It's the same capitalist industrial complex puppetteering a semblance of 'antagonistic' images (products) while cashing in on both - with one hand up an anti-#BeautyIndustry puppet selling you records and the other hand up a #BeautyRegime puppet selling you body image insecurities and the corresponding beauty & style products and services.

It's utterly vile.

#Lookism,
also known as #pretty #privilege,
declares that physically attractive people get preferential treatment in the workplace.

While research on beauty advantage exists, it does not sufficiently address differences between women and men.

Like so many workplace generalizations,
what is true for men is not necessarily true for women.

In fact, women are criticized for their appearance no matter how they look.

The femaleness of their body stands out,
considered abnormal in a traditionally male space.

This essay from aeon.co caught my attention because I think a lot about human beauty. Political theorist Andrew Mason proposes legislation against appearance discrimination. I'm not sure that I agree, but I need to think and read more about this topic.

I would be keen to hear the views of people on Mastodon.
