Gotta love that Amazon is trying to do what grocery stores what it did to bookstores: sell at a loss until you drive the competition out of business, then jack up prices.

I have mixed feelings, given the overall price gouging in the grocery industry, which retail stores are definitely colluding on. Many of the major stores are owned by the same parent companies. So they are evil, yes. But that doesn't mean being at the mercy of a billionaire's monopoly game is any better.

Good morning Mastodonians!

#WSDOA put out this chart a while back, which shows which #Washington #produce is in season at a given time.

Sharing it here with an eye towards #MealPlanning under #Trump #tariffs, as a helpful #shopping guide.

This info can help you identify which #vegetables are likely grown in #WA, which of those are tasty and priced to move, and therefore which ones you can probably afford to buy.

I'll miss avocados. 🥑

So far the Fediverse has seen multiple reports of severe weather, tornadoes and flooding but nobody I've seen yet has included warning about evacuating livestock--Oklahoma's KOCO 5 breaks that mold by issuing a detailed warning to farmers to evacuate livestock and farm equipment to higher ground...which raises the question as to whether or not Texas even thinks in those terms.

Earlier prognostications for cattle has been low herd numbers because drought diminished grazing fields as well as hay production for the winter...now we have a flooding threat. And you thought chickens were a problem.

I am always excited when the grocery store I do my primary shopping at actually has a good quality green sauce cause apparently they just aren't popular in Northwest ROA as MOST of the grocery-style stores in the area at most will have one or two cheap green options if even that.

Cholula Green is my favorite affordable green sauce so I was ecstatic to see it for about 70 cents off today. Will go perfect with the frozen white chicken pizza I got.
