Thomas Preece<p>I&#39;ve finally managed to find a copy of a record I&#39;ve been looking for for ages! This was my 3rd great grandfather Dafydd John&#39;s favourite song. He passed away in 1894 so wouldn&#39;t have ever heard it on a record. The choir is from the Borough Welsh Chapel in London, which is still in existence. They won the National Eisteddfod in Liverpool in 1929 with the same conductor on this record, so my guess is that it was recorded late 20s or early 30s.</p><p>Interestingly this record plays at 80rpm, and Discogs has what I assumed was a repress on a different label, but that one plays at the standard 78. I love the simplicity of this shot and the colours. <br> These two-horned gramophones were designed to fill a large room with sound for social dancing. Because of the location of the styluses on the record there would be a slight stereo delay effect. I’m forever the optimist! I don’t suppose anyone’s come across an original 78rpm record sleeve from 1945 like this one have they? I’ll pay if any are still out there. As far as I know it’s American, as the British versions had completely different sleeves.<br>Thank you, and I’m crossing my fingers!</p>
