A stone-step stile looking mossy and overgrown. The steps have become redundant, since the wall now ends adjacent to the steps, and the perfectly straight footpath simply bypasses the entire affair.

Walkden (Low Level) railway station site,
Opened in 1875 by the London & North Western Railway on the line from Eccles to Bolton (Great Moor St), this station closed in 1954, and was later demolished.
View northwest towards Little Hulton and Bolton. The former railway track has become a footpath. No trace of the station apparently remains.

Saint-Mard (BE)

Le Ton, petite rivière de Gaume, bordée d'arbres et d'un sentier où passe le G.R. une après-midi d'hiver où le ciel est bleu et le soleil généreux, le clocher de l'église de Saint-Mard est visible au centre de la photo et se reflète dans le Ton tout comme les arbres.

The "Ton" is a small river in Gaume, surrounded by trees and a path which is part of the long distance trail on a sunny winter afternoon. The bell tower of the Church is visible in the middle of the photo and reflects itself in the river as the tress do.

My next pathway post is from the Culzean estate in South Ayrshire - we love it there so much, it's the main reason we have NTS membership! This was a lovely, cool path on a hot day.

This is the sort of photo I want to retake should I ever get a proper camera (and learn how to use it) to see if I can do better, but for a phone photo I don't think it's bad.

Have I ever told you about the time I was #walking a #footpath by a #river, as it got narrower & narrower & nettlier – until I was walking a wooden plank under a tube & rail bridge, then looked to one side – and saw a little straw hut there?

Well, now I have.

There's a thin path leading through crowded bushes, undergrowth and reeds to a raised wooden bar that carries on towards a metal railing.

A thin wooden plank, with muddy footprints on it, is raised slightly off the earth by scafolding bars. It leds from a shadowed area towards a lighter one very overgrown with many plants.

A small structure has been made oput of hay - a little hut or similar, too small for a human. It sits on bare earth, underneath and shadowed by a metal structure with bolts visible protruding down. In the background there's a single slice of light through part of the structure, and some graffiti on a wall.
