BlackPixelDust: Art :autism:I can just about replicate my previous yarn/fiber colorways. Good think there really isn't a perfect "dye lot" when it comes to dyeing spinning fiber, like when you have a yarn.I kinda look at what colors I have and say... what colorway are we dyeing today? ... I need to work on dyeing some fiber but I have a lot to do. (She's one of my goto yarn-tube channels to watch.)She has a background as a science teacher so all her videos are yarn dyeing experiments.When I dye yarn and fiber... I legit go with Vibes. 🥴 I have an idea of where I wanna go, but I dye and overdye until I get results. jendeferWe dyed eggs today, and one batch was done in grape juice for the first time (instead of red wine). We did another with onion skins, and I made dyes from red cabbage, cayenne powder, and turmeric. Turmeric was the most annoying because of how hard it was to strain. Women all over use woven cloth like this to carry things -- you just bundle up your stuff, tie the thing around your shoulders, and go. VereeshI've been dyeing some new wool using several shades of kool-aid. This is 8 oz of blue-faced Leicester. I doubled the strand of roving, and poured my dye to make a long gradient. Image hidden because it looks like it could be a pan of guts, but it's just wet wool. KakeI dyed a t-shirt for bob using low-water immersion after tying it in little bunches with water-soluble thread. The idea of using the water-soluble thread was to avoid white marks — I wanted it to just be “different” in some way in the tied parts, but not to block the dye completely. KakeI did some dyeing for the first time since November! My second attempt at a green (#10 in the photo), and my first attempt at an orange (#11).I’ve also added a photo of this green next to my previous attempt at a green (#9), which shows how much difference it can make to use a different blue in the mix. The blue and yellow are in the same proportions in each batch, but the cerulean blue and cobalt blue give very different results.
