My drive in to work is so slow this morning, my activity tracker watch has started counting steps while I drive.

First #commute in nearly a month. Pray for me.

SO... we're expecting a wet, snowy, slippery, slushy drive home.

BUT it's still just clouds and no precipitation around here for now.

So I can't work my magic and subtly nudge my managers to let us out a little early to help us avoid the long, messy drive home.

Drive home should be fun...

Running twenty minutes late today, as the train was late arriving from the preceding journey: knock on effect.

And then it had to be cleaned too, standing in Bremen rather than on the move, as rather too many people from the previous journey were incapable of removing their breakfast remains.

Aufbruch auf Rädern, Verlust struktureller Integritäten, Schimpfworte, Fußmarsch. Ringen mit Zeit, Erfordernissen, Möglichkeiten. Grauer Himmel, durchdringender Wind, keine Eigenwahrnehmung außer der Spiegelung in den Blicken von Handwerkern, die ihren parkenden Transporter ausladen und deren Aufmerksamkeit man viel zu lang bindet. Bürokeller, neben den Parkbuchten. Steckengeblieben in unbequemen Überlegungen über einfache, aber langfristig schlechte Gegebenheiten - und die Privilegiertheit von Alternativ-Ansätzen, die irgendwie immer in Do-It-Yourself hängenbleiben. Zu wenig Koffein.

Coming to the Close

The work day is almost over. About 10 minutes from now there will be another Monday in the books. Also, I will be 50% of the way through my 40% in the office mandate for this week. That’s nice. It’s also probably confusing if you don’t know what I am talking about but I do know what I am talking about so it is not confusing to me which is why I wrote this epic run on sentence about it.

Here is a picture of a cat that I took this morning before I left for work. She was confused and upset because I made the bed and messed up her hiding/napping spot/plans. Sorry, cat.

What else can I write about before the work day ends? A Red Sox win tonight and a Yankees loss will move the Red Sox into first place in the AL East. Yes it is only the 11th game of the season, but after the last few years of baseball futility combined with the Bruins suck fest of late, I will take a first place moment with a smile on my face. The Yankees and Tigers are playing right now. In the bottom of the eighth inning in Detroit, the Tiggers are up 6-2. Thanks, Detroit.

What else… I haven’t worked on anything musical since the RPM Challenge wrapped up at the end of February. I am a failure at musical life. Just saying.

Okay, I got distracted by something at work and now the 10 minutes have passed and it’s quitting time. Wish me luck on my evening commute home. Jen picked up something nice for dinner tonight. We have dinner together whenever humanly possible and I always love it. I love her, I can’t help it. The heart wants what the heart wants and my heart wants silly little domestic time with the woman of my dreams. There’s nothing wrong with that at all. Civilization coming to a crashing, idiotic, tariffed end doesn’t change the way I feel.

Feeling a bit wonky this afternoon had to buy a new saddle at lunchtime to replace the SLR that knackered me during the ride in this morning. I had completely forgotten how badly it treated me last time I rode it. I couldn’t even face riding the 6km back from the station this afternoon, it was that grim.

Not a happy bunny this morning. The app tells me my bus is there and on time, but the display at the bus stop tells a different story. An invisible bus is underway, on time, according to the app.

The same with the next bus. I hurry to the next tram stop, 1 km away, missing the tram by one minute. Invisible buses are still running.

Arrive at the station 05.35, and see the 05.45 isn't running today. Next train 06.17.

Coffee and a bretzel. Temperature at -1°C.
