Here's a very interesting respirator -- essential a breathable N99. It is available in the U.S. from Family Masks.

Hospital wait for Steven's eye surgery to be over.
To pass the time I walk. But to take a break from the mask I go outside and there I have to dance to keep warm.
Patient is out ready to go back to where we're staying.

This is heart-rending but I relate on so many levels. I am not a musician, nor do I suffer from long covid. I have pre-existing health conditions that make me want not to get sick with something potentially worse. I guess I'm just a ghost. And you can't count ghosts.
"When your subculture leaves you behind with Long COVID"
"Friends texted their fears to me frantically: “Is music over? Are shows done?” I thought back to informal and unconventional gigs, the freedom and potentiality those moments held, and reassured my friends, sequestered in our separate biomes. I said and believed: “Music always finds a way, youth culture always finds a way, underground culture always finds a way.”

Canadians! Interested in helping out? (It's super quick)
COVID and flu monitoring
For the 2024-2025 surveillance season, the FluWatchers program continues to track cough and fever activity in the community, to help monitor flu, COVID-19, and other seasonal respiratory illnesses. The FluWatchers program gathers data on healthy participants as well as those experiencing cough and fever, so it's important that you try to answer the questionnaire each week whether you are healthy or sick. That will allow us to calculate more accurate rates of illness each week.
I just answered this week's FluWatchers survey! My weekly responses contribute to monitoring flu-like illness in my community. Help out by becoming a FluWatcher today! https://cnphi.canada.ca/fluWatcher/register #FluWatchers

A big thank you to healthcare professionals who don't make us feel awkward taking precautions to protect our health!
Last night, biting on a piece of particularly delicious crisp apple (Honeycrisp, since you ask) I did something to my jaw and dislocated it, I guess.
I couldn't chew, yawn etc. It was very painful. (I have loose joints, and while I can keep my muscles strong to hold myself together, there's nothing I can do for my jaw, but chew lots of delicious food.)
Anyway, I called and got a cancellation appointment with my osteopath today. I was really nervous, thinking I would have to remove my N95 mask for the lengthy treatment. He was wearing a mask at my request (only a baggy blue, but at least that) and said he could - and did - treat me with mine still in place.
That was such a relief, in more ways than one. It's just a little thing, but it made all the difference to my stress levels.

I was at a masked meetup in Golden Gate Park today, enjoying the company of fellow #CovidIsNotOver peeps. There's a discord server that we use to coordinate, and it's usually just an informal hang. We're not completely off the beaten path, but let's just say parking isn't a problem.
Guy (properly masked) walks up to us and asks us if we're a #CovidConsious group. He'd never heard of us, and thought he and his wife were the only ones.
Visibility matters, y'all.
4 years ago. When I had white & blue hair. Wearing N95 mask under sequin fabric mask.
My vivid hair colours were done by a friend, Kate, who works at The Old Hat Hair Shoppe, in downtown #VictoriaBC :

Yup. Still masking. But we are alone doing it around here.

I am glad someone else has thought to say this too.
