Anita Byrne<p>46. <a href="https://mastodon.ie/tags/WhereTheCrawdadsSing" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>WhereTheCrawdadsSing</span></a> </p><p>This was a really popular book a few years ago and was all over the book clubs I’m in but I never got around to reading it. </p><p>It’s the story of a young woman who was abandoned and left to fend for herself in the marshes of North Carolina in the 1950s. </p><p>It reminded me a lot of Nell and To Kill a Mockingbird. It was ok. I was expecting more but I as I haven’t read the book I can’t compare the two. </p><p>I wasn’t blown away by it.</p><p>5/10</p>

Mary<p>Not one for films so when I like one I need to say so. Where the Crawdads Sing. Loved it. When her mother leaves, &amp; then her siblings leave, she raises herself in North Carolina marshland. She is later tried for murder.</p><p>Locals see “The Marsh” as land with little $ value and a white trash neighbourhood, but Kya sees The Marsh as a place of endless natural wonder.</p><p>Any woman who has been abused by a domestic partner, or knows someone who has (which means “most” women) will probably appreciate this movie.</p><p><a href="https://youtu.be/PY3808Iq0Tg" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="">youtu.be/PY3808Iq0Tg</span><span class="invisible"></span></a></p>
