Kierkegaanks regretfully<p>Nothing is new under the sun</p><p>Critias, a prominent student of <a href="https://beige.party/tags/Socrates" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>Socrates</span></a>, was one of the leaders of the Thirty Tyrants, a group of <a href="https://beige.party/tags/oligarchs" class="mention hashtag" rel="tag">#<span>oligarchs</span></a> who briefly took control of Athens after the Peloponnesian War in 404 BCE. The Thirty Tyrants were infamous for their oppressive rule, during which they executed or exiled many democratic supporters. Critias' involvement in this regime, and his role in the purges, made him a highly controversial figure. After the fall of the Thirty Tyrants, Critias was killed, and his actions led to a negative view of Socrates by some Athenians, who associated him with the tyrants.</p>
