My partner has undiag ADHD and anxiety and we have been talking through experiences both so I (AuDHD) can better understand his experience and also verbalize my own (as in, oh, I would be able to make accommodations if this was someone else, so why don't I accommodate for myself?)

We are discussing this article, like what is the difference between being anxious, autistic anxiety, being overwhelmed, or experiencing dread... etc.

> Dr. Jonathan Dalton discusses the distinction between dread and anxiety. Anxiety typically involves worries about what might happen, such as fretting over how you will be perceived at a social event or what might or might not occur there. In contrast, dread is about the certainty of discomfort, such as knowing an event will be overstimulating and involve extensive small talk.

Hello friends! 😊 How's everyone doing today? I'm taking it easy and working from the recliner in our living room due to some pain and inflammation in my feet. Elevating them seems to be helping. They still hurt a little, but I can finally move my toes without excruciating pain! 🙌

I've been dealing with some weird inflammation in different parts of my body, and my feet are just the latest and worst spot. My stepdad headed off to the grocery store a little while ago, and the only downside to being in the living room is the dogs barking when he returns. I'm all tensed up expecting them to bark at any time. Might just go ahead and put on my headphones to avoid the overstimulation. 🎧

I'm about to dive into lesson 15 of my #BrailleProofreading course, and I also plan to fit in some #Coding practice with #Codecademy. Looking forward to making progress!

Wishing you all a comfortable and productive day. Take care! 🌟

Jfc I got a lot of mileage out of one goddamn screenshot but hey!

You goddamn linguistic nerds!!

Ooh, I feel like youtube.com/watch?v=YrHGbCyAqO is structurally related.
OMG. THAT’S HOW ADHD BRAINS CONNECT IDEAS.

AuHD or AudHD (urgh, I hate that initialism) people connect ideas by their structural relevance (and personal ascription of importance).
And, apparently, Neurotypical, neuro default, or neuro expected people connect ideas by narrative relevance! And, frankly, also how much importance they ascribe to the narrative, topic, or relevance.

Omg I’m an edu blogger?! This is like finding out that non-binary gender was an option! Holy shit.

@punishmenthurts Tommy to me also has a LOT to say about #autism - and in many ways Pete Townshend as a writer shows "associative thinking" of autism. And so much of Townshend's work has to do with crowd thinking, language translations from music to life, etc.

Tommy is very much about #SensoryOverload of autism shutdown in 1969.

I think this is an important understanding for autistic people.

The impact of #SensoryOverload may not be immediate. I found I would go to concerts and such on weekend and be mostly OK until several days later. Or having a hostile argument with live-in girlfriend / spouse would impact me days later.

Sensory overload / mind "overheating" and sometimes I recognize it is like a computer malfunctions when it is overheating... glitch motor skill problems, impatience, coordination, communications mistakes.

Noisy rooms with many conversations are one of the mot cited things discussed in autism support groups. I also find I have to shut my eyes in action scenes of TV shows, games, films. #ShakyCam people call it. It took me a long time to realize this.
