A home to friendly weirdos. The Grey Gardens of the Fediverse (but beige). Occasionally graphically cacographic. Definitely probably not a cult (though you'll never be 100% sure). Beige-bless 🙏

Bill Gallagher Photography<p>Mariposa Grove</p><p>Just inside the south gate of Yosemite by roughly 1/2 mile you find the parking lot to this magnificent grove of redwoods. From the parking lot there are a number hiking trails that one can take that are easy to moderate hikes.<br>I had this whole grove mostly to myself. I had time to shoot undisturbed and completely enjoyed the experience. <br><a href="https://pixels.com/featured/mariposa-grove-bill-gallagher.html" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">pixels.com/featured/mariposa-g</span><span class="invisible">rove-bill-gallagher.html</span></a><br><a href="https://socel.net/tags/MariposaGrove" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>MariposaGrove</span></a> <a href="https://socel.net/tags/BillGallagherPhotography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BillGallagherPhotography</span></a> <a href="https://socel.net/tags/RedwoodForest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RedwoodForest</span></a> <a href="https://socel.net/tags/Yosemite" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Yosemite</span></a> <a href="https://socel.net/tags/Nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Nature</span></a> <a href="https://socel.net/tags/Giants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Giants</span></a> <a href="https://socel.net/tags/Massive" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Massive</span></a> <a href="https://socel.net/tags/BuyIntoArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>BuyIntoArt</span></a> <a href="https://socel.net/tags/AYearForArt" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>AYearForArt</span></a></p>
G Dan Mitchell<p>“Poison Oak” — Poison oak leaves transition to fall colors in the deep shade of a redwood forest.</p><p>Aspens are not the only plants producing fall color here in California. The ubiquitous poison oak plants become even more red and start to pick up a bit of yellow/brown late in the season. The plant is widespread in wild areas of the state, ranging from coastal bluffs to oak forests to scrub brush, and California hikers soon learn how to identify it. The red leaves are a clue, but the oak shaped leaves in groups of three can mostly confirm it. (Though some wild berry plants have a similar appearance — but their stems have thorns, which are lacking on poison oak.)…continues: <a href="https://gdanmitchell.com/2024/10/14/poison-oak-2/" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">gdanmitchell.com/2024/10/14/po</span><span class="invisible">ison-oak-2/</span></a></p><p><a href="https://sfba.social/tags/poisonoak" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>poisonoak</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/Plants" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Plants</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/redwoodforest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>redwoodforest</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/bigsur" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>bigsur</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/nature" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>nature</span></a> <a href="https://sfba.social/tags/photography" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>photography</span></a></p>
John Conway<p>"Corythosaurus casuarius" — 2012</p><p>Corythosaurus casuarius was a duckbilled dinosaur, from the Late Cretaceous of North America. This a a completely reworked version of the first painting I ever did, back in 1995 or so. It owes quite a lot to a drawing of Parasaurlophus in a redwood forest by Gregory Paul.</p><p><a href="https://johnconway.art/corythosaurus-casuarius" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" translate="no" target="_blank"><span class="invisible">https://</span><span class="ellipsis">johnconway.art/corythosaurus-c</span><span class="invisible">asuarius</span></a></p><p><a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/Art" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Art</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/Cretaceous" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Cretaceous</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/Dinosaurs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Dinosaurs</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/Duckbilled" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Duckbilled</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/Duckbills" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Duckbills</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/Hadrosaurs" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Hadrosaurs</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/Ornithiscians" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Ornithiscians</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/Painting" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Painting</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/Palaeo" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>Palaeo</span></a> <a href="https://sauropods.win/tags/RedwoodForest" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>RedwoodForest</span></a></p>
