TJtreehugger2 for HarrisYesterday I got a LOT of leaves tilled into the garden soil. The garden has been put to bed for the winter, there are still some greens, turnips and carrots along the edges. Mandy WatsonI'm having a Halloween countdown on my gardening site! First, the best pumpkins for Halloween lanterns, from huge to small, white to warty! Until recently in NE England, we carved turnips as 'bagie lanterns' (swedes/rutabaga) not pumpkins. My childhood Halloweens stank of burning turnip from the real candles inside.
