Chinese scientists develop world's most complex 1-nanometre thick 2D semiconductor chip with 5,900 transistors.

The chip built on the open-source RISC-V architecture, can execute programs containing up to 1 billion RISC instructions.

The chip is now preparing to enter pilot-scale production, with around 70% of its fabrication steps able to be integrated into existing silicon-based production lines.
