I hate that people think there's this dichotomy between creative and analytical that if they get to know one side of me first they usually assume I am just that and not much of the other side. It's like left brain/right brain phrenology. I even get this from people who should see that they themselves have strengths on both sides.
We're complicated messes of cells, man, you can't explain us using silos.
@theynege people see the world in such a binary way and it's so annoying and reductive
breaking: nonbinary person hates binaries. more at 11
@forestine @theynege the world isn't a digital computer it's a soup that can think
@reb @forestine a soup can that think
@theynege @forestine no it doesn't come in a can it's from the vegan cafe up the road they make it themselves
@forestine @theynege the universe stew started shortly after the previous stew got knocked off the stove by the chef (who was a Marmot called Pete)
@reb @forestine @theynege well they call him Marmot Pete
He's the king of the rodent beat
@reb @forestine @theynege I thought it was a cat
@forestine there are two types of people in the world:
- people who see everything in binaries
- people who do not see everything in binaries
- people who do not see ANYTHING in binaries
- people who in principle acknowledge things can't always be classified in binaries but still have a tendency to drift their thoughts towards that perception of the world
- opportunists who use binary concepts to indoctrinate others into group #1 even if they don't fit into whatever binary they preach themselves, but they manipulate others for power
- people who do not ponder binaries at all, for they would rather dance
Like I said, two types of people.
There are two types of people. People who sort people into two groups, and those that don’t.
@theynege if I had a dollar for every time a coworker or client has been surprised when they've seen art I've made or heard me talk about gardening, I wouldn't be working anymore
@theynege If people don’t think creative work goes on in Excel, they either don’t understand Excel or don’t understand creativity.
@maxleibman ah yes, spreadsheets: also complicated messes of cells
