To my non-UK peeps perhaps confused by news reports about the storm currently visiting our fair land and the way we might be speaking about it. Here is a handy guide
It's a bit brisk out there,
There's terrified people being swept through the air clinging desperately onto their umbrellas like so many Mary Poppins wannabes.
It's a mite damp,
It's biblical, the land is becoming the rivers and sea and everything's getting swept away.
It's getting quite interesting out there,
Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god, we're all going to die.
Hope it helps.
@pathfinder Also as a UK resident, I can confirm, the current weather status is 'big coat' weather.
@Aspiedan
Definitely!
@pathfinder Evening Kevin
Big Coat weather here mate!
@Tim_McTuffty
Not the most pleasant night to work in. At least it's fairly quiet, most people have more sense than to be out in this.
@pathfinder Morning Kevin
Hope you got thru the night safe & are enjoying a well earned rest!
@Tim_McTuffty
Thanks. Arrived safely home, wind swept and even more interesting looking. Mostly it was just bloody cold and a lot of debris on the roads.
@pathfinder Stay safe, my friend!
@arisummerland
It's mostly about staying warm. Nothing like gale force winds and rain to induce a small pinch of wind chill
@pathfinder "small pinch"
But I feel you. Our windchills have been in the teens and single digits of late. (Fahrenheit)
Thank you. This is most reassuring. Not! But I see from further down that you survived, so I guess that’s good!
@Susan60
It wasn't the worse storm I've known, but it is much later than I would expect one and given that it's colder now, the wind chill was something fierce.
Nasty. Weather has been calm here, but has gone from hot & unusually humid to cooler than usual for this time of year. Sigh.
@Susan60
I think the days of seasonal weather are gone. Unexpected is going to be the name of the game from now on.
Yep. Expect the unexpected & be prepared for the extreme.
@Susan60
Indeed.
