Americans aren't in the streets tearing it down because our fucking police are militarized and protest is treated like terrorism. #subtoot #Again #Repeatedly
@intransitivelie And yet the people in the US who are most likely to tear it down are the ones who face the most intense police terror, whilst protest tactics are much more militant in countries where cops are much more violent against protests than in the US
@intransitivelie for anyone who doesn't know someone who lived in Portland from 2020-2023 it was a warzone. The "protests" were just people walking around and it was turned into a war zone for 3 years. Gassing people in the street and their homes. Live gun fire, metal slug grenades shot directly at peoples heads. People dragged from their homes never to be seen again. People are still being prosecuted for "terrorism".
@budsofstone @intransitivelie The trauma from all of that is intense.
@HeliosPi @intransitivelie yeah, I left the city cause of it.
@budsofstone @intransitivelie Sorry to hear about that. The MAST (mutual aid social therapy) online group meets every 1st and 3rd Saturday of the month. I haven't checked this out but seems like a worthwhile thing.
