@d4rkness@beige.party Default Firefox actually contains ads and has done so for a long time. Most notably with "sponsored" links on the default new tab page. I'm not joking.

It's because they give them money. This is the definition of adware.
@SuperDicq its like the least invasive form of an ad and its super easy to disable it fully, also its links to their websites which can be very handy to use if you use those websites often.

This absolutely goes against the original Mozilla Manifesto where they pledged to only support and enable products that the same principles as them.

@d4rkness@beige.party There's the Mozilla Corporation and the Mozilla Foundation. The original purpose Mozilla Corporation exists to generate funds to maintain the ideals of the Mozilla Foundation which is non-profit.
It was not meant to be profit seeking.
