Barely related: my first tomato was in Carrsboro, NC. Kind professor invited my father (foreign student) and I had a sliced fresh many-hued tomato on my plate.
Intrigued by your heirloom tomato story.
I ate much sourdough in SF but can't recall a Tartine. A local Ukrainian woman bakes a dozen loaves a day in her home kitchen and delivers them to the market where I buy tomatoes.
The combo, with Duke's mayo of course, is phenomenal.
@TheEddieShow I need to go to the market, this morning! We have a small one. And I hope this spring I can do better, plant more.
