32 done. Bethlem is significantly 'different' from our normal (very very flat and easy) course. So I always sort of dread it as I know I'm going to struggle. But equally I know I'm going to get more out of it and the day I manage to get round without stopping will be a day of national celebration and marching bands. Today was not that day, but OF COURSE I feel amazing.

If I can serve as an inspiration/warning to anyone..... If you're in two minds about getting out and about and going for a run - JUST DO IT. I promise its worth it. Even if it's not a PB. Even if you don't absolutely crush it. It'll be worth it. You'll feel better - more positive. You'll blow away the cobwebs and some of the negativity. And if like me you struggle greatly with the Black Dog, it'll do wonders that pretty much nothing else can.

For those that manage, I salute you.

For your efforts..... A fucking awful picture my wife took of me. I look like I need to be put down or into some kind of home.






A man stands before you. He's next to a purple popup sign that reads... ParkRun Bethlem Royal Hospital It's green and lush with bushes and trees behind them. The man looks unsure of what to do in the picture so is doing a strange thumbs up - as though he's never done one before and is unsure of the etiquette. He's standing like he's had a toilet-related accident or has forgotten how to stand. He's wearing active wear - shorts and trainers and a fleece. He's got a kindly elderly face. The sort of face that you might see in a family film, where the protagonist kid is scared or lost and a kindly stranger helps them with weirdly specific wisdom. Like a sort of fairy godfather and not a paedophile. Behind the kindly yet goofy face belies a hard life. A life of lessons hard-learned. Eyes that have stared into the void and, whilst they have returned, changed forever. Dancing with the light of madness. Despite this, he seems like someone you'd trust with pets and elderly relatives. The sort of man who would give you his last biscuit. You'd always be looked after. Despite this - the scene taken as a whole does seem to scream - idiot. But you gotta read between the lines, man.
