🇨🇦 ⚠️ 🇨🇦 ⚠️
Most of us know this however, due to a reply I received apparently it needs to be said.
Due to threats to our sovereignty, we Canadians are hurt and angry at Trump/Musk and supporters,
HOWEVER,
Many Americans Support Canadians. and many Are Immigrants seeking Our Shelter and Protection so if you think you should be forming a neighbourhood watch group "in case something happens" just STOP RIGHT NOW! We do NOT want this escalating into viligante groups hurting innocent American residents in our country
The threat from America is NOT from inside Canada, it is from OUTSIDE our national boundaries. The last thing we want is conflict within our borders. Trump would love to destabilize our unity, so welcome your American neighbours and their support, don't shut them out and do NOT turn against them.
Anyone suggesting anything contrary to this will be blocked by me and I would expect the same from all Canadians.
We have a history of sheltering those needing our protection, don't allow that to slip from our grasp.
Thank you for reading my post.

And please boost this.

@SnowshadowII
For what its worth, I hope Canadians realize the entire "threaten Canada" thing is NOT AMERICA, its TRUMP pretending that another of his lies is real, and doubling down on it rather than admit he's nothing but a vessel of hot gas.

@Sunny

I hope you realize it IS AMERICA threatening us.

Trump represents America,
the American war machine so please do not assume he is without power.

I am sorry but your reply suggests you have not been paying attention to the news., or...

@SnowshadowII

Nobody is assuming he is without power.

I realize perspective makes outsiders incapable of understanding the difference between America the country and Trump the asshole. Its sad yet understandable to us.

He does not represent the majority of people in America. He represents the majority of billionaire dollars, and he's out of control. To say otherwise is highly insulting to actual Americans.

There's no denying his power is a clear and present danger to Canada, as well as America.

Perceptions are reality. Don't allow him to control your perceptions of actual Americans or we're both fucked.

@Sunny Your reply is insulting and condescending.

@SnowshadowII

Apologize for not being able to communicate effectively with you. Feelin' a bit insulted and condescended myself.

All the same if it matters... most American's find trump's statements and actions related to Canada appalling, embarrassing, and ignorant. Whether you believe me or not.

@Sunny Australian here. Sunny, your message that the American people don't hold any ill will toward Canada is fine but out of context here. Canadians like @SnowshadowII aren't concerned with how American people feel, they're concerned about what Trump may _do_ eg command the military to invade Canada and bomb its cities.

If he does that, ordinary Americans will not be able to stop him. And that threat is very real and shocking to Canadians. So a message of "don't worry, he's just bluffing" is not going to be welcome.

@anne_twain
Thank you for understanding, and having enough patience to explain it.
I'm about exhausted, and my patience is worn too thin right now.

@Sunny

@SnowshadowII You're welcome. May Trump's administration fall into a heap of ash before he does anything to Canada - or us!

@anne_twain

I truly hope his admin collapses but when, that's what worries me.

I hope Canada survives this.
Too many Americans are dismissive of Trump's threats. Too many are too young to have listened to those who were alive during the rise of Hitler, and fewer bothered to read about it. I did both, that's why I now have insomnia, Trump is the same.

No country is safe from the US war machine. My best wishes go out to you and your loved ones and to your country.
Thanks again. 💜

@SnowshadowII @anne_twain

Me too. But I support you. And I'll be one of a couple hundred MILLION Americans supporting you if that asshole tries anything beyond talk.

@anne_twain @SnowshadowII

That's not how it works here.

He wouldn't survive.

@Sunny Just have to continue arguing huh. SMH. @anne_twain

@SnowshadowII
There are those inside Canada trying to destabilize us as well. For me, this is an American thing not just Maga. I will not be buying US made/produced items and will not step foot there again. Block me if you want but that’s my stance. Apologies to the non-Maga Americans who may be affected.
#BuyCanadianByeAmerican

@caspercdn

Well your reply tells me you completely missed my point.

Maybe read it again carefully and we will talk about it.

@SnowshadowII I happily favorite and boosted this.

As an American, I do want to add my own 2¢, if I may:

Canadians need to recognize the danger that the U.S. and somewhere between 40-50% of the population represent. Don't let your guard down, and for goodness' sake, don't roll over to demands and threats coming from this country.

@QuarkMaker

Thanks. We are aware and I made my post because some very paranoid reactionary decided it would be necessary to set up surveillance of his neighbours and ....oh it was so stupid!

@SnowshadowII If I were to move to Canada and my new Canadian neighbors were nervous and concerned enough that they kind of kept tabs on me, I would (sadly) understand.

@QuarkMaker

That's not how we roll as Canadians. Out of the people here and those on another site only *one* Canadian acted out, came up with a really irresponsible and knee-jerk reaction.
I made this post as a preventative measure. Emotions are running high in Canada, we need to make sure it doesn't get out of hand.
Anger needs to be directed to the source and nowhere else.

@SnowshadowII @GottaLaff
Learn from Putin's propaganda. One of his "justifications" gor invading Ukraine was to "protect" Russians in places like Donetsk.
Attacking US citizens in Canada because of Trump and Musk (whom they probably don't support) provides an excuse for Trump to say he's just protecting Americans.

@a_cubed

Thanks. I have been shouting this but I am met with "Don't be an alarmist" <rolls eyes in frustration>

@GottaLaff

@SnowshadowII @GottaLaff
Never believe anything is beyond Trump. 50% of what he says is never going to happen, but you never know which 50%.

@SnowshadowII @a_cubed @GottaLaff is there a single example of Canadians attacking Americans? Booing doesn’t count.

And trump has never needed the truth before. The Haitians in Springfield were not in fact eating pets, but that doesn’t matter.

@danbrotherston
Not in recent history, however a reply to anther post I wrote left me feeling very concerned so I thought it would be a good idea to make it clear that yes we have every right to be upset but we need to focus our anger at the source, and not use innocents as scapegoats.
Some people have knee-jerk reactions because they imagine there's a scary monster lurking in every corner, and don't think of the consequences of their actions.
Hopefully, my message will prevent an attack on an American.
And you're right, Trump is a liar, but look how many believe him and voted for him and will believe his lies about us so his threats to our security are real

@a_cubed @GottaLaff

@SnowshadowII @GottaLaff Thanks for your wise words. I live near BC and do not wish to see bad relations between us. I’m American but also have distant Canadian ancestors - a great great grandfather from outside of Montreal.

@nada_bio_entity2 @GottaLaff

Bad relations are happening now, sadly. Your president has destroyed our trust in your government.
Canadians have every right to feel hurt and angry and we are retaliating against your country and will continue. Trump wants our resources and has threatened us. Canadians have a history of being bloodthirsty killers during war time (look up WWI) and we will die before allowing a take over.
What Trump and his supporters have done will take generations to heal.

That said, we love our US cousins who didn't vote for Trump and who support us, and those who seek our shelter deserve to remain safe as a Canadian resident.

@SnowshadowII as someone who is doing everything he can to keep our democracy on the rails and stop the madness here in the US, I thank you for this post. Canadians should remember that the vote for Harris was almost %50 of the population. Also they should remember that fairly decent people have been fed disinformation, have been conned and lied to. We have fairly massive protest actions going on and this country is very divided.

@Steph71 Thanks. Most Canadians on Fedi know this, it's a shame more IRL don't.
However, now each morning one of the employees in our building knocks at my door and requests a "Trump Update" ( lol ) to share during their lunch break , so word is getting out.

@Steph71 At least 50% of those who showed up to vote. @SnowshadowII

@Alison @SnowshadowII I am just a as pissed off at those mofos that did not vote as you are...probably more because it affects me directly. What is done is done

@Steph71 We aren't immune. Same thing happens here all the time. @SnowshadowII

@Steph71 @SnowshadowII Of the portion that decided to vote. ⅓ didn’t vote.

@Dero_10
Why does it matter! Honesty. Why are people wasting time and energy arguing over percentages.

btw...my comment is Rhetorical. Don't bother answering.

@Steph71

@SnowshadowII
I love & respect Canadians. I'm American. I'm ashamed & angry at what Trump & his MAGA cult are doing.

@Callalily Thanks. Now go out and DO something. Join a protest, anything.

@SnowshadowII Thank you. We are just as outraged and shocked as you are. Whatever this imperialistic sudden urge is, it's not something I've ever heard anyone even joke about, let alone about Canada. We love Canada and Canadians!!

Whatever it is, It's not about the people in either country. It's Trumpian dementia or some hand behind the throne with resource-grabbing motives. We all need to oppose this with ridicule, law, rebellion, refusal, and whatever other tools we may have.

@skry
Outraged, yes. Shocked, no.
There is absolutely nothing sudden about this play for power. It's been a decades long walk that brought you to this point, but only now have Americans realized the trap was set and it just slammed shut.

Thanks for your kind words. My block list is long with accounts who think it's either funny, or they expect us to welcome entire states joining us, and then they strike out with anger when I say, as individuals they are welcome but not states! Ridiculous! for them to expect that--MAGAS and all!
Besides, we as Canadians are VERY different than Americans.

I truly hope you all figure out how to free your country from this menace threatening you and the world. Stay safe. 💜

@SnowshadowII US fascism has been brewing since Nixon, but the turning on Canada thing blindsided everyone.

@skry
Blindsided Americans yes, not Canadians. We discussed the possibility of the US going after our resources back in the 1960s.
