To my US friends,
To those of you who voted for Biden:
*Some* of you are hurt and angry when we tell you Canadians no longer want to hear comments about your country annexing or states joining Canada, and you lash out at us angrily accusing us of lacking in empathy.
I am here to ask you this; If your house was surrounded by a an angry MAGA mob, would you accept half of them into your home if they said, " Some of us aren't MAGA so take the group, or would you want to vet each individual?
Your government is threatening our existence.
Read that again.
We truly empathize with your situation. You are frightened, anyone who is not isn't paying attention to recent events or is in a state of denial, and we want to help but you can't expect us to accept entire states. As you read this and the attached article below, and think about my post remember we are trying to help by accepting immigrants, and help by other means, for example, around the globe there is a race save data before it's removed from your websites so later you can access it.
Our hearts are *deeply* saddened by recent events in your country, and we want to help but the reality is there are limits to what we can safely do without risking the elimination of our country.
And to those of you who understand and support us, I can't thank you enough because it takes a lot of empathy and courage to see through your own pain and fear to validate ours. We see and deeply appreciate you.
Here is the article with the paywall removed, please read what the world, not only Canada, is saying.

Please boost this.
I, for one, am rooting for Canadians to take a stand. I cheer when I hear that Kentucky bourbon has been removed from Canadian shelves, and Canadians are cancelling vacations. The only chance we have here is for the people who need to feel the pain to feel it sooner rather than later, because tons of people who didn't ask for it are being hurt while MAGA acts like it isn't going to come for them eventually.
@SueShannon that bourbon is back on the shelves due to our maple maga premiers.
@SnowshadowII america was never our friend, they’re just finally honest about it. Americans, liberals, I have an almost unlimited capacity for empathy, but none whatsoever for you. If you don’t stop him before he invades my country, we’re going to grow crops in fields fertilized by dead american soldiers. Your friends and relatives. For literally no fucking reason. I will personally ensure TikTok is absolutely drowning in pics of american war dead
@aapis "you"?? I assume you're talking to Americans.
I always say, we will send back their dead when we find them after the snow melts.
@SnowshadowII I do mean americans, yes
@SnowshadowII
The world still has to realize what is under control by that #clubofoligarchs

Now start to think what would be possible with that wealth and digitalinfrastructure combined in synergy if you just put evey rule/law aside - and i mean every rule/law.
THAT's what we all are facing.
@grootinside Indeed. The worst dystopian sci-fi novel just became reality.
@SnowshadowII You've been the best neighbors, allies and friends throughout my life. You need to protect yourselves from the madness here, but please know, some of us love you deeply as kin. I hope that we know peace and friendship again in our lifetimes.
Thank you.
For generations, Canada has stood by the US, fought wars together, came to the aid of the US during natural disasters like hurricanes, floods, wildfires, and during 911 we kept our air space open so US flights could divert airliners and land here. During that time, we took in to *our homes* stranded Americans, fed and sheltered them without asking for money in return.
Trump has severely damaged our friendship; we are hurt and angry like a victim in an abusive relationship and it will take generations to heal this wound.
@SnowshadowII Agreed. This is an abusive relationship and Canada is standing up brilliantly to the US bully. I think he will be the end of us. The world order is shifting; the uncertainty and vulnerability is felt strongly here, too. My father fought Nazis in WWII. I never suspected they would take hold here and destroy the country I love. You need to protect yourselves at all costs. We will salvage what we can here, and I will always mourn what was. Wishing you all peace & safety.
@caban4 Thank you. It's possible my family fought Nazis alongside yours, and that makes this even more heartbreaking.
I am sending the same warm wishes to you and your loved ones.
@SnowshadowII pretty rich for Andrew Coyne to be sounding the alarm, given the not-insignificant role he has played over the years to flatter and encourage precisely the sort of US-centric conservatism devoid of principle or ethics that he now purports to decry.
@johncormier I thought of that....
Perhaps realizing his error and sounding the alarm will make his readers/supporters do a double-take and realized they too could be wrong.
Anyone in the US who posts about being"hurt and angry" is pathetic, and may be a troll. The forces behind DJT would like nothing better for US & Canadian citizens to argue with each other. Don't waste your time with them.
@FallsMom
I don't interact with them, not any longer, now I block without explanation. Let them figure it out.
My patience has worn too thin.
If they can't understand it is a shared pain across our border, that Canadians and Americans are suffering, I m sorry but that's their problem.
@FallsMom
yup, some are from bot/troll farms-
@SnowshadowII @FallsMom Mastodon truly enters the mainstream. (Sarcasm)(but kinda not)
