A home to friendly weirdos. The Grey Gardens of the Fediverse (but beige). Occasionally graphically cacographic. Definitely probably not a cult (though you'll never be 100% sure). Beige-bless 🙏

Ms. Que Banh

I miss the original game. Me & my brothers loved playing it together. I was really good at Qbert.

What were some of your fave video games from the ?

I loved & classic consoles. I had , & old computer games too.

@PhoenixSerenity Oh boy, so many! I loved Rampage and TMNT in the arcade. I was a Genesis kid at home and dug Sonic 1 quite a bit and, for a different pace, The Immortal. On my Atari 2600 it was all about H.E.R.O.

What were your other favs?

@KevinFreitas I loved Tetris, Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Lode Runner, Ms Pac-Man, Mega Man, Final Fantasy, Legend of Zelda, Contra, Donkey Kong & Galaga!

@KevinFreitas I'd love to have a retro gaming night with fellow Gen X 80s gamers!

@PhoenixSerenity I’m down for something like that. Not sure how the mechanics might work via video chat and game emulators but I’m sure the Twitch/retro gaming community already has solutions.

@blueemu @PhoenixSerenity Oh yeah! Played that on my Apple IIe along with Karateka!

@blueemu @KevinFreitas I got into fights with my brothers over that game 😅

@KevinFreitas I LOVED Pole Position in the arcade but had to bring my own pillows to downtown arcade because it was too big for me & I couldn't reach pedals & steering wheel without back pillows 🤣

@rpardee @PhoenixSerenity
I loved Zaxxon. The first game to emulate moving in three dimensions!
And I remember the YMBFKM moment when I plugged in the Atari cartridge. They had turned it into a 2D game!

@ohmu @rpardee @PhoenixSerenity There's no way in a million years I don't think you could get anything looking like that 3D motion on the 2600.

In the 1980s, I was a big Williams nerd: Defender, Stargate, Robotron 2084, and Joust. Also had a Tempest and Gorf addiction that lasted a good while too.

@PhoenixSerenity in the coin op world I loved Bomb Jack. You could get a decent play for a credit and you could get better at it.

At home. I probably spent most time in Repton 3. It had a level editor and it was thrilling to play a level you had made.

@jfrench I remember Bomb Jack but unfamiliar with the other game.

@PhoenixSerenity I loved Qbert, but only one place in town had it (along with Gauntlet). At home I loved the notoriously hated E.T. as well as Tutankham, Venture, Vanguard, Defender, Joust, and Combat. I also loved Scott Adams's various text adventure games (especially Pirate Adventure and The Count).

@handmade_ghost Defender! I remember getting completely annihilated by my brothers on that game 😅

@PhoenixSerenity I was not awesome at it, but I loved the sounds! 😅😂

@handmade_ghost I really sucked at that game but still enjoyed playing it with my brothers.

@PhoenixSerenity I loved watching my brother play games--I used to give him my quarters so I could watch him play Dragon's Lair at the little arcade in the local pizza place. Great memory.

@PhoenixSerenity@beige.party Solaris. very sophisticated for a 2600 game. even has an ending!

@PhoenixSerenity Asteroids, Ms Pacman, Centipede, Moon Patrol, Galaga, Scramble, Xevious, Raiden and other shoot-em-ups!

@Captainobservant Centipede was awesome! I still remember freaking out as the screen filled up before my player died!

@PhoenixSerenity The one I played the most back in the early 80s was Tempest, with occasional forays into the world of Donkey Kong Jr.

I remember feeling a real sense of accomplishment the time I posted the top score on Tempest at the arcade on Bank Street in Ottawa.

@PhoenixSerenity

Getting the two ships in Galaga felt so good.

I enjoyed Joust but was terrible at it.
Same with Tempest.

I loved BattleZone when I could find an arcade with it.

@PhoenixSerenity Centipede, Battlezone, Tempeset. I learned that if you can't have fun losing, it's not a game.

@PhoenixSerenity You know, my sister and I really loved Jungle Hunt on the Commodore 64. It’s pretty racist, so I don’t recommend it.

Another favorite was Munch Man on the Texas Instrument TI-99/4A. It’s a PAC Man clone and we loved to turn the sound up on the dying sound: Boooooo DUNG! 😆 I purchased a cartridge on eBay a while back but have not been succcessful in getting the computer. *shrug*
